In the USA, July is a month of celebration honoring our independence from oppression in 1776.  We celebrate summer, and we celebrate the many freedoms we enjoy. But even as we celebrate freedom, millions of people around the world are enslaved. Some of them—nearly 200,000 children—are being held in bondage within the United States, the country that so values its freedom. Not to mention, every 2 minutes another child is exploited in the commercial sex industry.

How can we celebrate our freedom when we know that others are being held in bondage right in our own country?  Use our freedom to be a megaphone for those enslaved. So this year when celebrating our freedom and independence, use the month of July as a time to be a voice for the voiceless.
